The Switch-On - An Amazing Evening

What an amazing evening on Sunday.

The event started with children from the local school singing in the donkey stables with Eli and Jake, the two oldest donkeys, together with a local brass band.  All very Christmassy.

As the procession of people walked down the hill, stopping to sing carols, the village looked gorgeous with the lights now on, giving a beautiful glow to the cobbles.  Finally everybody reached the harbour joining more people enjoying the merriment of Christmas music and refreshments, enjoying the atmosphere of this special event of the year.

After a service lead by the local vicar, the lights in the harbour were switched on, and fireworks finished the evening's entertainment, which although by this time was in the pouring rain, didn't dampen the spirits of those enjoying the evening.

It was estimated that 3,000 people attended and approximately £6,000 was raised for the RNLI.

Channel Four were also present, as the switch-on is going to be featured in the Devon & Cornwall programme. We're very proud of our village, so we'll be looking forward to seeing it on TV in December.
